Winter Olympic Games 2014
I confess: My favorite time of the year is winter and I am fascinated by its magic! If you’ve ever had the courage to try skiing, snowboarding, ice skating or just go to the mountain during those few cold months, you know what I mean. And you know you are into winter sports when you are absolutely excited about the approaching Winter Storm … more than anyone else.

If you’ve ever had the courage to try skiing, snowboarding, ice skating or just go to the mountain during those few cold months, you know what I mean. And you know you are into winter sports when you are absolutely excited about the approaching Winter Storm … more than anyone else.
I created this blog with the purpose of collecting and
sharing interesting facts and different events happening in the Winter World. And
they are not a few. I was inspired by the approaching Winter Olympic Games and
that is why this is my first topic. In just a few days Sochi will start writing
their Olympic history, putting their name next to Vancouver (2010), Torino (2006),
Salt Lake City (2002), Nagano (1998), Lillehammer (1994), Albertville (1992),
Calgary (1988), etc. For the first time the games were held in Chamonix, France
(1924), beginning the Olympic tradition of holding them just two years apart
from the Summer Olympics Games. Winter Olympic 2014 are expected to be the most
thrilling event, the largest version ever organized with a total of 85
countries taking part with more than 3000 athletes competing for 98 sets of
medals. The athletes will compete in 15 disciplines with several new Olympic
sports among which are Figure skating team event, Women’s ski jumping, Mixed relay
biathlon, Ski half-pipe, Ski slope style, luge team relay … in short, there will be more flying, more
spinning and more speeding than before.
The world is waiting for the amazing opening ceremony of the XXII Olympic Games, Russia is preparing for the biggest event of the year, the Olympic fire will soon mark the start of the games.

ReplyDeleteGreat topic, Bulgaria was in the bid for welcoming the Winter Olympics in Bansko this year, but no luck. Please post the schedule for the games :)
